Letter From Pastor O

A Sanctuary For Broken-hearted Children

A bruised reed and a shattered life. Such are a few of the phrases that express the ministry of the Orlando Children’s Church.

Without a doubt the ministry of the Orlando Children’s Church (OCC) is being used of God in reaching thousands of children with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every Saturday morning we launch eleven full size school buses that bring in an average of three hundred and fifty children.

Most of the children live at or below the poverty level and come from some of the poorest areas in the city. When they arrive at OCC we are able to fill their tummies with a free breakfast. After they are fed, the children settle in to sing and hear God’s Word taught and shared. At OCC we are able to provide mentors and loving hearts that embrace these children at their point of need.

Many of them come dirty and dressed in tattered clothes. More than a few will come to us wearing their mother’s shoes or shoes that are way too small. Often we will need to get them a change of clothes or footwear when they arrive because what they are wearing is so terrible.

And yet our humble Savior says, “When you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren you have done it unto me.” How wonderful it is to minister not just for the Lord, but to the Lord, and we must not turn our eyes and hearts away from battered souls that desperately need the Savior. Oh, for more Christians who would make their lives a refuge and a sanctuary for broken hearted people!

It is to these precious children that we are called. OCC has over one hundred volunteers who willingly lay their lives down to rescue them, but we can’t do it alone.

Would you prayerfully consider helping us?
