“With tears in my eyes, I silently praised God for what I see Him doing in the hearts of these girls. He is doing amazing things in their lives.”
Volunteer Lu Stasak writes, “I have always enjoyed working with children, having spent twelve years working in the classroom, and was excited to check out OCC. From the moment I arrived and began meeting the children and talking with them, I felt God distinctly place a calling on my life to continue to go to OCC as a weekly volunteer.
Last August, I began teaching first grade girls small group at OCC. I feel so grateful for this opportunity because every week, I watch as the girls grow in their knowledge of God’s Word, and their relationship with Him. It has been wonderful to also see them form friendships with each other.
Last Saturday, one of my first graders, Rachel, was sharing in our small group that her mom wasn’t feeling well. Immediately, Ashley, another girl, stopped and began praying for Rachel’s mom. With tears in my eyes, I silently praised God for what I see Him doing in the hearts of these girls. He is doing amazing things in their lives.
Each week that I volunteer, God places another precious child in my path and gives me the opportunity to get to know them for a few hours on a Saturday and form a special bond with them. This has been a blessing in my life.
OCC is an amazing outreach that tells children, often for the first time, that they are loved by God and matter to not only him, but also that they matter to adults. I feel very humbled to be a part of this ministry.”
